The program director assists the Executive Director in the recruitment and planning of sporting events and related meetings in the Asheville and Buncombe County area. This person must be well organized, detail oriented, flexible and enjoy planning large events.
The ability to interact with clients and local leaders in a fast paced environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient with a high level of professionalism is crucial to this role. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability and attention to detail are equally important.

Biltmore Volleyball Academy (BVA) will host the 19th Annual Jr. Hi Neighbor Volleyball Tournament in the Asheville area April 25-26. The tournament will bring almost 100 teams; girls age 13-18, to the Asheville area to compete. An estimated 3,500 players, coaches, and their families from throughout the southeast will travel to the mountains-some traveling from as far away as Virginia and Ohio. Matches will be held at university, college, middle school, and high school facilities in Buncombe and Henderson Counties including Mars Hill College, UNC Asheville, Asheville High School & Middle School, North Buncombe, AC Reynolds, and Hendersonville High Schools. The games are open to the general public at no cost and are an excellent opportunity to support the local players in their hometown.
The Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission was formed in the fall of 2010 by a handful of civic-minded leaders who had a vision to impact the local economy by bringing more sporting events to the region.
